Rain, hail, or hurricane—linemen are out there working

For many lineworkers, hurricane season is one of the busiest seasons of the year, and clear, honest communication and being prepared can make all the difference.

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative in Alabama understands that and prepared for the 2020 hurricane season by ensuring materials were staged throughout the county so the lineworkers had what they needed when they needed it. They also made sure they had efficient communication systems set up so their workers and customers would always be kept up to date if something happened. And during hurricane season, that something can happen at any time, day or night.

When lineworkers do get a call in the middle of the night, they get up and go to work. However, as the Wiregrass Electric crew members say, the hard work in the wind and rain is worth it when they see the expressions on their customers’ faces when the lights come back on.
