A lineman pays it forward in a special way

Derek was born in Manitoba and became a lineman after graduating high school. He started working at Summerland Power in 1989, and has worked there since. Being a lineman was part of who he was. In 2020, he died at the age of 62.

Though he may be gone, Derek’s legacy will live on in his tools. According to his wife, helping young linemen get started in the trade was important to him, and one of the greatest gifts a lineman can give to another lineman is his tool bag.

He will be missed dearly, but the impact he had on the lives around him will always be remembered.
