Helicopter crashes while performing linework

Linework and flying are both dangerous businesses, and when combined, as they often are, the risks increase.

On June 2, 2020, three men lost their lives in a helicopter crash while performing linework. One was a pilot, and two—41-year-old Jimmy Wasdin and 29-year-old Travis Shull—were linemen. Investigations into the crash by PJ Helicopters, the NTSB, and the FAA have been launched.

In a statement, PJ Helicopters expressed their sorrow over the accident: "Our entire team is heartbroken over the loss of our pilot and of the two linemen ... Utility work and aviation go hand-in-hand as being tight-knit communities, and tragedies like this reverberate through countless lineman, pilots, mechanics, and tradesman the world over."
